Hunt Club Forest - An Alternate Scenario

The latest twist in the Hunt Club Forest story is interesting. A completely new possibility has surfaced. The Westboro connection!

In addition to the Otto's dealership on Hunt Club Road, Otto's has a Subaru dealership located on Richmond Road in Westboro. Seems that the Subaru dealership has a large parking lot filled with cars near that dealership. Turns out that property is just 300 metres from the new Westboro LRT station. Perfect location for a high rise apartment building!

So, connecting the dots, if Otto's own that parking lot, they could probably profit handsomely from selling it to a developer for a residential apartment building. But, what to do with all those cars. And the residents of Westboro would likely be delighted to see the end of the parking lot eyesore.

So, maybe Otto's sees a pretty simple solution. Expand their Hunt Club parking lot and move the cars from Westboro to Hunt Club. Problem solved. It's a win-win-lose-lose; Otto's wins; Westboro community wins; Hunt Club community loses; the forest loses. There are more winners, now that I think about it. The Ottawa Airport Authority wins--a bit of revenue from leasing part of the forest to Otto's. City of Ottawa wins; more residents in Westboro=more passengers on the LRT + more taxpayers.

The problem has just become much more difficult for the Hunt Club community if all this speculation proves to be correct.

The plot thickens. It's more complicated now. To deepen the owners' pockets, Otto's has gotta move those cars somewhere... anywhere but Westboro. That's my theory anyway!
