THERE'S JUST TOO MUCH STUFF…

Sometimes we forget... the basic premise of freecycling is that most things that people are looking for are ALREADY OUT THERE right in our local community, just sitting there — unused, unwanted, taking up space — in someone’s drawer, closet, basement, garage. Our communities are bloated, overflowing with "stuff".

We’ve just got too much stuff!

Ours is a gifting community. We believe that when there’s too much stuff, often all you have to do is ask, and you will find fellow community members who have what you want and… it’s yours for the taking. They would rather get back the space than keep that unwanted stuff.

It is our conviction that most of the time it just isn’t necessary to go out and buy new stuff. In fact, it's a waste to go out and buy new stuff. Chances are that what you are looking for is already out there in the local community inventory of surplus stuff, sitting around, unused.

And it is good environmental stewardship when we take up the slack and productively use all that surplus stuff in our community rather than unnecessarily buy new stuff and use up resources, time and energy to produce it!
