Walmart's Acquisition of CareZone Causes Unintended Crisis for Canadian CareZone Users
Walmart Acquires Medication Management Platform CareZone for $200M, June 16, 2020.
This acquisition causes major problems for Canadian CareZone subscribers who have become dependent on the CareZone service to maintain critical health and medical information.
Many Canadians, including me, have been happy Canadian CareZone users for the past 10 years since 2010. CareZone became a preferred, go-to, sole resource for managing family health and medical information. A wonderful service!
Yesterday, December 7th, 2020, without notice, CareZone became completely unavailable for Canadians. Most of the medical, health information, pharmaceutical records, journals, contacts for several family members accumulated over the past 10 years was suddenly unavailable. Smart phone users of the CareZone app were instructed to download the Walmart app in order to carry on maintaining this information.
The big problem for Canadians is that the Walmart Health app is NOT available in Canada. This leaves Canadians without access to vital personal and family health information
Can either Walmart or CareZone provide some kind of bridge / accommodation so that faithful Canadian CareZone users / subscribers can either continue to maintain their information, or download it, rather than permanently losing it. Or, can Canadian Government officials intervene with Walmart Canada to address the problem. The health and welfare of many, many Canadians right across Canada is at stake.
